| Objectives
The establishment of a credible
knowledge base that provides technical expertise on issues of
concern in the current negotiations and wider peace process facilitating
greater participation of civil society, organisations and individuals
in bringing about a peaceful resolution to the Maoist insurgency
is the main immediate objective of FFP. Its other specific objectives
are as follows:
• To organise interactions
among civil society leaders, politicians, media persons and other
individuals in order to correctly address conflict related problems
and to encourage the parties in conflict to establish peace.
• To assist in the peace process by establishing a resource
centre equipped with books, journals, magazines, audio, visuals
and articles concerning peace process, war, terrorism, criminal
justice, international law, international relation etc.
• To increase the capacity of Nepalese researchers and concerned
individuals by acquainting them
with various peace processes experimented in other parts of the
world in the course of resolution of
conflict and building of peace.
• To provide necessary assistance in building a durable
peace in the country by synthesising international, regional and
national experiences, knowledge and expertise.
• To carry out programmes compatible with the above mentioned
objectives by establishing a link with governmental and non-governmental
peace organisations at national and international level.
• To carryout study and research on conflict and conflict
resolutions when needed.
• Attract increased international attention on conflict
in Nepal and muster greater resources to support sustainable peace
process and political settlement.
• To facilitate greater
exchange of ideas through seminars, conferences, public forums,
informal discussion, international exhange and other programmes.
