3.  Professional Expertise

 As a skilled professional, I am actively involved in organizational and personnel management, strategic planning, projects design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, gender mainstreaming, conflict analysis and management, field surveys and baseline preparation, training and human resource development, liaison and co-ordination, production of reports, briefing papers, concept notes and resource materials, organization and facilitation of seminars, workshops, training and meetings at various levels with community, civil society leaders, politicians and rebel leaders and combatants. My work involved intensive communication and discussion with numerous individuals with varied cultural, academic, geographical backgrounds that gave me opportunities to develop my communication skills. I have the experience of working as the head executive of a large media organisation with a number of experienced and young professionals of different cultural, social and academic background. Such work environment was very useful for me to develop team work ability and practice efficient transformational leadership. My work as a journalist in major English daily newspapers like the Kathmandu Post and the Everest Herald has given me the almost native level of skill in the use of spoken and written English language in addition to my skill to translate and edit English and Nepali texts to a publishable standard.

4. Political Trend and Political Parties

Contemporary politics is one of the areas of my interest. During the last three decades, I am involved in political analysis of multiparty parliamentary system with focus on political parties of the country and their role in bringing about democratic transition. I am well acquainted with the genesis, growth and the present status of the Maoist rebellion and the role played by political parties and the palace since 1950. At the same time,  I have contributed ideas and opinions to strengthen democratic institutions, electoral processes and problems of democratic transformation in the Nepali society through essays and articles. As a member of the civil society, I have participated in major political movements since 1970 onward from the anti- Panchayat struggle through 1990 People's Movement to the recent historical people's movement popularly known as the 'April Revolution' which forced King Gyanendra to restore parliament and relinquish sovereign power which he had wrested from the hand of the people through his proclamations of 18 October 2002 and 1 February 2005.

1.Participated in a training course on Reporting Skills and Developing Project Proposals organised by The Empowerment and Learning Development Centre in Kathmandu from 11-15 September 2006.

 

2.Participated as a co-trainer in Conflict Sensitive Research Methodology training jointly organized by International Alert (a London based research organization) and Friends for Peace (FFP) from 11 November to 18 November 2005.

 

3. Participated in the management development training on Essential Managerial Skills organized by Standard Icon on 8th and 9th August 2005.

Five years professional experience on social sciences research with specific focus on conflict transformation and peace building. Major areas of expertise include security sector reform, electoral politics, constitution making, media and politics, human rights monitoring, recent Nepalese politics and political parties, international relation, research planning, data and information collection. I am familiar with different participatory research tools (Participatory Rapid Appraisal, Appreciative Inquiry, Participatory Learning and Action, Stakeholders Analysis, etc.) and planning tools such as log frame, Objective Oriented Project Planning, Process Oriented Project Planning and Implementation, etc.). I have experiences of working in multi-disciplinary, multinational, multi-cultural and diverse geographical settings.

i. Co-author of a book entitled Dawn of Democracy, written about the 1990 people's movement.
