Contempt
of court case against RCCC A contempt of court
application has been filed in the Supreme Court against
the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC), its
chairman and the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Pyuthan
district regarding the arrest of Pyuthan District Judge
Birendra Kumar Karna.
CDO of Pyuthan district Ram Prasad Ghimire, had arrested
judge Karna under the direction of the RCCC.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Hari Prasad Sharma, upon his
return from an international conference, denied commenting
on the arrest of Judge Karna. "I don't have any comment
on the issue," he said.
"The defendants (RCCC), its chairman Bhakta Bahadur
Koirala and CDO Ram Prasad Ghimire) arrested the judge
going against the Constitution and crossing the legal
authority given to them," Advocate Purna Chandra
Paudel, who filed the case at the apex court on Monday,
has argued in the application. Interestingly, the SC has
promptly scheduled Tuesday for its hearing.

NC (D) to
launch protest soon President of the Nepali Congress
(Democratic) Sher Bahadur Deuba has said his party was
for launching protest programs soon for restoration of
democracy, but the plan has been delayed as the leaders
of major political parties are under house arrest.
Talking to journalists at his residence in Budhanilkantha
Monday, Deuba said the announcement of the program has
been delayed as Girija Prasad Koirala and Madhav Kumar
Nepal are still under home arrest. "Them being out
of contact has made it difficult to announce the program.
Now, since it's taking time, I'm discussing with other
leaders who are in-charge of their parties to move ahead,"
he said.
